Faith: Christ over Culture

Most of the Bible studies I’ve done lately have been on mental health & what the Lord has to say on anxiety, healing & wholeness. No matter what study I’m doing, this verse is always in it: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2

One version I read had ‘world’ written as ‘culture’ and that changed the game for me.

I was talking to Chase about this tonight. Obviously the culture has changed from then to now, but the message behind culture from then to now is the same: you aren’t enough unless you____…

Chase said, “Of course we no longer make (animal) sacrifices like culture back then or bow to statue idols. But, we sacrifice our finances, health and well being to be accepted however culture deems worthy (idols).”

Busyness is a badge of honor.
Brand wearing is a social status.
Billboards tell us we aren’t enough unless we have what they’re selling.

There’s even an agenda behind the food we eat.🤦🏻‍♀️

God keeps grabbing my attention on what culture is saying& doing. Am I really not enough? Or am I not deemed enough by cultural standards?

If you’re reflecting on that question with me, I can assure you that you will never be enough according to cultural standards.
Relieving, isn’t it?

BUT you will ALWAYS be MORE than enough to the One who made you.

So, let’s focus on these truths next time we are doubting the beautiful creation that is ourselves (that God said is good btw😉):

✨special
✨God’s
✨free
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).
